Basic Understanding

Q: Do I now have to worry about computer installation myself?

A: No. System Dog first provides transparency: You see which devices are secure, where risks exist, and where technical measures are required.

Who performs installation or maintenance – yourself, your internal IT, or an external provider – remains your decision.

System Dog gives you the overview for the first time of whether your IT infrastructure poses a risk to your business, reducing the "unknown unknowns".

Q: We already have an IT provider. Don't they take care of everything?

A: Many providers do great work – but without a central, independent control system, complete transparency is often lacking.

System Dog answers questions that often remain unclear:

  • Which systems have critical security vulnerabilities?
  • Which devices have missing updates?
  • Is your hardware completely inventoried?
  • Is there a clear risk assessment?

System Dog doesn't replace your provider – on the contrary: It supports them, makes requirements visible, and facilitates task completion.

Q: This is all too technical for me. Can I get a simpler overview?

A: Yes. System Dog can be configured to deliver reports in clear, non-technical manager language.

You then only see information relevant for decisions – without technical details.

Q: What is the goal of System Dog?

A: System Dog pursues three central goals:

  1. Transparency across all systems and devices
  2. Risk assessment of technical infrastructure
  3. Support for management, IT managers, and service providers

This makes IT maintenance plannable, measurable, and understandable.

Services & Scope

Q: What specific services are included?

A: System Dog provides complete, continuous security and inventory monitoring of your entire IT landscape, including:

  • Detection of critical security risks (CVE)
  • Monitoring of patch status (Windows, Linux)
  • Hardware and software inventory
  • Risk prioritization
  • Automated alert messages
  • Weekly and monthly reports
  • Support for IT and service providers

Important: System Dog does not install updates. We deliver prioritized recommendations – implementation is done by your provider or internal IT.

Q: Which platforms are covered?

A: System Dog supports:

  • Windows 10 / 11
  • Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
  • Linux servers and workstations

Currently not supported:

  • Mobile devices (iOS, Android)
  • Network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)

Q: How often are systems checked/monitored?

A: The agent checks systems by default every 5-15 minutes. This creates a near real-time picture of your entire infrastructure.

Technical Operation

Q: How does System Dog work technically?

A: A resource-efficient agent is installed on each device, which transmits only technical system data to the System Dog platform.

The platform runs entirely in the System Dog data center in Nuremberg, Germany and:

  • Analyzes risks
  • Detects missing updates
  • Evaluates CVEs
  • Creates reports and alerts
  • Inventories hardware and software

The agent captures no personal data or content.

Q: Does something need to be installed on every device?

A: Yes. The agent is installed once and:

  • Requires minimal resources
  • Captures only technical system information
  • Communicates encrypted
  • Sends data only to the Nuremberg data center

Q: What data does the agent collect?

A: The agent captures only technical information:

  • Operating system version
  • Patch level
  • Installed software
  • Known vulnerabilities (CVE)
  • Hardware details (RAM, CPU, storage)
  • Configuration
  • Integrity and health status
  • Internal IP address of the device

Not captured:

  • Personal data
  • Files, documents, or content
  • User behavior
  • Email or chat content
  • Passwords or credentials
  • Network payloads

Q: Does System Dog run in the cloud?

A: No. System Dog runs exclusively in our own data center in Nuremberg, Germany.

Privacy & Security

Q: Is personal data stored in the System Dog data center?

A: No. System Dog stores only technical system data and the internal IP address of a device. The IP is used only for technical identification.

Q: Why is the internal IP address stored?

A: It's necessary for:

  • Unique system identification
  • Inventory management
  • Risk and alert notifications
  • Technical traceability

The IP is not personal data as it identifies devices, not individuals.

Q: Who has access to the data?

A: Access is limited to:

  • Automated System Dog control systems
  • Authorized System Dog administrators for platform operation, maintenance, and stability

All data is used exclusively for evaluating technical security status.

Q: Does my data ever leave the System Dog data center?

A: No. All data remains entirely in the Nuremberg data center:

  • No external cloud
  • No sharing with third parties
  • No transfer to other countries

Q: How is data security ensured?

A: System Dog ensures data security through:

  • Operation exclusively in Germany
  • Encrypted communication (TLS)
  • Storage of only technical data
  • Minimal data collection
  • Access only for authorized administrators

Q: Is System Dog GDPR-compliant?

A: Yes. GDPR compliance is achieved through:

  • No processing of personal content
  • Data storage exclusively in Germany
  • No third-country transfers
  • Clear access restrictions
  • Technical data minimization

Implementation & Collaboration

Q: How does implementation work?

A: Implementation follows three steps:

  1. Analysis phase
  2. Agent installation
  3. Report configuration

After a short time, you receive a complete overview of your IT.

Q: How long does setup take?

A: Setup duration depends on company size:

  • Small businesses: 1-3 hours
  • Medium-sized environments: 1-2 days

Q: Do I need IT knowledge for this?

A: No. System Dog can be fully installed by your service provider or by us.

Q: Does System Dog work with our existing service provider?

A: Yes. System Dog supports service providers with inventory, prioritization, and maintenance. This improves transparency and collaboration for both sides.

Q: How is System Dog billed?

A: Typically:

  • As a flat-rate model (€99 net per month, regardless of company size)

Q: Are there minimum contract terms?

A: No.

Q: What is the value compared to the costs?

A: System Dog prevents:

  • Undetected risks
